The JCR committee is tasked with representing the undergraduate members of Harris Manchester. Members are elected by the student body from Hilary Term to Michaelmas Term of the following academic year. We’re here to represent your views, address your concerns and organise great events you’re interested in, so don’t hesitate to get in touch.
As President I am the representative of the College’s student body. One of my main roles is to act as a liaison between the students and the College – and even the wider University. This includes making sure that our voice and opinions get heard. I also chair the committee and have overall responsibility for running the JCR. Please feel free to approach me with any concerns, issues, or questions you may have and I’ll do everything I can to solve them!
As Vice President, I support the President in his work and provide assistance when required. When the President is unable, I am there to act as a substitute for meetings or other events.
As Treasurer, I look after the financial responsibilities of the JCR committee. I also reimburse budgeted or otherwise agreed on expenses, ensure that officers have access to the funds they neep, and work with the Bar Manager to ensure the bar is solvent. I also liaise with the college Bursar and with the MCR on financial matters.
My role is the Junior Common Room Secretary and I am presently in my first year at HMC reading for a BA in Philosophy and Theology. I have responsibility for the communication between the JCR Committee, JCR members, MCR and SCR. I take the lead on ensuring the JCR abides by its constitution in meetings and motions and I am also happy to answer any general HMC questions which you may have.
Hi, I'm Tom and I will be the Bar Manager for the calendar year of 2019. As Bar Manager my role is to make sure the bar is staffed, stocked, and is a welcoming and warm place for people to socialize. Early in the new term, I hope to have the college cocktail decided upon, and throughout the year I will be looking for the college community's input into what gets sold at our bar.
As F&B Officer, it's my job to represent your views on culinary issues (within College), and to ensure that there's plenty of tea and coffee in the JCR. I also look after provision of JCR wine and non-alcoholic alternatives for formals. bene edamus, bene bibamus!

Our role as Social Secretaries is to provide you with fabulous events and to make your free time in college as enjoyable as possible! We will organise fantastic BOPs, awesome guest nights, and special events like Oxmas and Burns Night. If you have any suggestions for future events please get in touch!
Hi! I’m Terence and my role is to ensure that everyone has the resources and support required to do well here! Aside from being the ‘Carnations Officer’, I do plenty of activities outside the academic sphere and I would love to hear what all of you do as well! I’ll also love to chat about any movies or shows (read: Brooklyn 99 and GoT 😝) Looking forward to working with everyone and hopefully making those essay crises a little more bearable!
As Charities Officer, I’ll be responsible for continuing time-honored charitable events at HMC, such as Charaoke, as well as bringing new opportunities for fundraising to our student body. I aim to raise awareness of existing community service opportunities in College and the wider town and university, as well as to introduce planned volunteering days and events a few times a term, to strengthen ties between students, the community, and the charities we support through our JCR events. I also aspire to improve transparency in the process of nominating charities by supplying profiles including testimonials and financial information. Please holler if you have any ideas or suggestions!
Hey all! As your Environment Officer, I strive to improve the general awareness of the climate issue within the college and the student body so that we may all make well-informed choices. I also look forward to improve sustainable practices to lower our impact on the environment. If you have any thoughts or ideas regarding this, please drop me an email or just catch me in college. I'd love to discuss and hear more from you! Remember: it's not about saving the earth, it's saving ourselves.
As Freshers' Officer, my role is to provide the best possible introduction to life at Oxford and HMC for incoming students. From organising Freshers' Week, to being the point-of-contact for new students, I am committed to making the incoming freshers feel right at home.

As IT Officer, I seek to explore IT tools with everyone at HMC — programming, photography, Photoshop, and so much more. I am your point of contact for IT issues, and help make university and college IT services more accessible to all. I am also an avid photographer, and hope to capture memories that we will cherish in years to come.
As LGBTQ+ Officer I represent the voice of LGBTQ+ people in the JCR. I provide education, entertainment, socialising opportunities, and in-college support for LGBTQ+ students and allies at HMC. Part of my role is also to foster college involvement in University wide LGBTQ+ events, such those put on by LGBTQ+ Soc and LGBTQ+ Campaign. If you have any questions, suggestions or ever want to talk, please feel free to get in touch.
As Newsletter Officer, I am responsible for keeping the students and staff of HMC up to date on what is going on in college through an entertaining publication. Shorter newsletters are published twice a term and a longer edition comes out at the beginning of every vacation. All newsletters are open to contribution and will be available online and in the JCR.
As our Oxford Student Union Representative, I am responsible for representing our college culture and stances at the student body of the University. This includes speaking on behalf of HMC at the Student Council meetings, raising concerns and reporting back to the JCR members. Acting as the link between HMC and the Student Union, I also communicate elections, campaigns and events to our HMC students.
My aim as Sports Officer is to allow anyone and everyone to play any sport they want at any level. This means the dream is to have more sports hangouts so absolute beginners of any level can try out whatever sport they want, and to have more teams representing HMC so that if you wish to play at a more competitive level you can! Besides this, I will also organise fun sports tournaments and events around college, and try to provide whatever logistical support HMC sportspeople need, be it sports equipment or gym equipment that can be used around college. If there's a sport you really want to play or try out, don't hesitate to let me know! Looking forward to a great year of sports for all!
As EDGE (Ethnic Diversity Group for Equality) Officer, I support students at HMC who identify themselves as ethnic minorities, and ensure that our college socials are diverse and inclusive. I will lend my ears whenever you would like to have a chat or raise any concerns regarding race and ethnicity in college – and try to resolve them! At college level, I work with the President and other Liberation Officers in the JCR (i.e. LGBTQ+ Officer, Women’s Officer, Disabilities Officer) and the corresponding SCR equality officer to join efforts for promoting diversity and mutual respect. Feel free to drop me a message any time!
