In the first week of arriving at HMC, you will get to take part in a week of fun activities specially planned to help you ease into Oxford life. Fresher’s Week is often a highlight of First Year, where you’ll get to meet new friends and learn about everything Oxford has to offer.

Fresher’s Week at HMC is designed to be inclusive, so whatever your interests are - from pizza nights to evening pub trips to quiet board games - we have something fun planned for everyone!

Matriculation is a ceremony where you, and hundreds of other freshers are officially admitted into the University. Formal dress is often worn for the ceremony (but don’t worry about it, you’ll have plenty of time to get your own). It is a day of celebration with family and new friends, and officially marks the start of your journey in Oxford!

Every week, musicians in HMC meet in our beautiful chapel for a jam session, playing a wide variety of music, including jazz, rock and pop. Musicians of any level or instrument are welcome to join.

Improve your strength, flexibility and breathing with free yoga sessions in HMC with a professional yoga instructor. All abilities welcome.

Guest Nights are evenings where you can invite your friends from home, or other colleges, to HMC for a special formal dinner.

We have our very own punt at HMC - take it out for a spin with your friends on a nearby river in summer!

Held on Mondays and Wednesdays, Formal Dinners are a time for HMC students to catch up over a delicious three course meal, prepared in our very own kitchen. Formal wear and gowns are often worn for these dinners.

The McMullin Cup is an annual croquet championship where teams from HMC battle it out on our quad for the coveted trophy - and glory!

Bops are college costume parties where the college dress up in wild outfits and come together for a great time!

We have our very own pool table in the JCR. Every year, aspiring players fight it out for the title of grand champion and eternal bragging rights.

Every summer, Harris Manchester College is transformed into an enchanted wonderland - perfect for a smashing summer party!

From Merlots to Chardonnays, paired with aromatic cheeses, we bring the best wines from all around the world to college several times a term before a formal dinner.
